GoldMine 2018.2 and Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

With the release of GoldMine 2018.2, the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 have been removed from the GoldMine Compatibility Matrix 

The reasons are primarily that there may be complications with the new feature that GoldMine Connect uses HTTPS by default which means the IIS requires a certificate for the installation. It might be necessary that additional changes are necessary to the system and Service Packs may need to be installed. Both are not within the scope of GoldMine Support and at this late stage of the lifecycle of the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the decision has been made to drop the support of both operating systems in GoldMine 2018.2.

Especially when GoldMine is used and GoldMine Connect will be not installed or installed on another server with a supported operating system, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 may still be used, but are officially not supported anymore. If a certain behavior is identified to appear only on these operating systems, GoldMine Technical Support will advise moving GoldMine 2018.2 to an officially supported operating system.

Use of https by default

• For new installations GoldMine Connect will be installed to use port 443 by default

• The https implementation requires a certificate installed on the web server

• If you don’t have a certificate from an external trusted authority, then you must create a self-signed certificate. Please see https://community.ivanti.com/docs/DOC-55023 for more information.

• For existing installations there will be a redirect from http to https

• Please note that in the case of existing installations, we use URL Rewriter to perform the redirect. If URL Rewriter is not installed previously, then the GoldMine Connect installer will download it from the internet, which will require an internet connection, and do the installation.

• In the case of an upgrade if there is no certificate installed on the web server, the admin must configure a certificate prior to the upgrade. IntelliClick is GoldMine 2018.2 Ready!

It is important to note that the upcoming update release of GoldMine 2018.2.0.xxxx will be introducing several security features. As a result, it may be nessary for you to adjust some settings in both the IntelliClick Listener, IntelliSend module, Database access for use of SQL queries and Crystal Reports to insure those elements continue to function correctly. The change most likely to impact your IntelliClick setup relates to the password for the user CLICKS that is used as part of our connection to the GoldMine database when reading or updating information. Changes that you may need to make to that user password will require at minimum that this be updated in both the IntelliClick Listener and the IntelliSend module.
 
We have prepared a PDF document which outlines step-by-step how to make the adjustments that may apply to your GoldMine and IntelliClick environment. Click here to download those instructions. This download is also available from the IntelliClick update page.

253430 If a non-master user has the option 'Add New' unchecked under the Access Tab of Tools>User's
Settings>Properties, they won't be able to edit a contact record in GMWeb even if they are the
owner of the contact record
253476 Outlook Link - When Searching for contacts clicking on the found name will usually
immediately open GoldMine, this is inconvenient and there should be rather a double click
necessary
253496 Outlook Link - Having a Hyperlink for View Contact only on the value and not complete row
when Searching for a contact record
253292 Clone a primary field view in Record Types Admin. Whatever name is chosen brings up a 'this
name is already in use' error.
253836 Special characters (e.g. French) will be destroyed when saving an email template >> also when
sending such an email to a contact the special characters are gone
254172 Change default action when linking an email to a different contact, currently default option is
"YES" preferred and least destructive should have NO as the default response.
254487 GMweb hangs on the landing page and when opening a Conatct record for an extended period
of time before showing results
