Probably a more unusual view of this much painted part of Cornwall, standing on the pier and looking in towards the town and the front promenade. The town rises to the right and there's a great temptation to paint detailed roof tops and you have to watch out for those traps and just state a few of them catching the late afternoon sun.

Thought I would have a go at reflections and water. The subject is the small, white lighthouse on the end of the pier in St Ives harbour. Casting it's reflection into the harbour waters, the lighthouse is unusually constructed of cast iron - so it must be a regular job to keep it painted to stop it rusting.

Marazion a pretty seaside town close to Penzance in Cornwall. Marazion is cornish for little market' and claims to be one of the oldest towns in the UK after Colchester. It's got a great location and lovely views over the bay to the nearby St Michaels Mount, another popular tourist attraction.

Mevagissey is a traditional Cornish fishing village on the South Coast of Cornwall about 5 miles south of St Austell. The picturesque narrow streets leading down to the harbour still retain some of the charm of an age when the horse and cart were the main method of transport, but nowadays the streets are filled with tourists and cars each competing for space.

Located on the western edge of Penzance, Newlyn is home to the largest fleet of fishing boats in the South West of England. Newlyn, is clustered around the harbour, with its original quay curling around a few small boats on the western side and the much larger quays in the centre and on the eastern side of the harbour. The little rise up the 'Strand' here which runs around the harbour offers great views from the top to Penzance and beyond.

Mousehole (pronounced "Mowzel") is one of Cornwall's most picturesque hamlets; a stunning collection of yellow-lichened houses, built from the local granite, huddled together around the inner edge of the harbour - protected from the force of the sea coming across Mounts Bay by two sturdy breakwaters.

Camelford a pretty little market town on the edge of Bodmin Moor, North Cornwall. Being close to the moors, you're sure of a shower or two during the summer. Another experimentation into painting a dull rainy day and tried to get some highlights in here and there to add a bit of interest. The buntings were still up from when I was there - either as a left over from the Jubilee or Olympic celebrations - not sure which.

The bottom end of the town centre in Newquay, Cornwall, and by day it's a popular seaside resort, especially in the summer months, but especially busy on Friday and Saturday nights as this is the main bar and nightclub area. But you would hardly notice that during the day.

Tranquility at low tide in Newquay Harbour on the North Cornish coast. I thought this made a nice composition with the three different boats together, and their connected chains leading you into the picture. Also for me what pulled it together was the shadow coming across the picture adding another dimension.

Newquay, a popular resort on the North Cornish coast of the UK and a big surfing centre. There's a long winding high street, the main shopping area, through the middle of town with glimpses now and then down through to the sea. I thought this view made a good composition with the two sides of the street and a bit of an improvised shadow coming across the front.
